M.A. Anthropology, 2016
University of Nevada, Reno
Shaun Richey completed his M.A. at the University of Nevada, Reno with a focus on the historical archaeology of mining. While participating in archaeological work in Nevada, he developed a research interest in explaining how mining landscapes have developed over time in different environments. His interests include studying the rich histories of the people and places that have shaped Nevada’s history and presenting this history to the public. He has used novel archaeological techniques in his research, including LiDAR, photogrammetry, and drone technology to map out large, complex landscapes, 3D modelling of archaeological features, and using advanced geographic information systems (GIS) analysis to model human activity. He is currently working on completing a Ph.D. at the University of Nevada, Reno.
